Biomass Gasification

Cogeneration Units

Cogeneration units combine an internal combustion engine and an electrical generator to simultaneously produce electricity and heat.

Cogeneration units are suitable for installations and projects with steady electricity consumption in areas with limited connection to the local electricity grid and with the possibility of using the simultaneously produced thermal energy in the form of heat or cold.

The basic prerequisite for installing cogeneration units is a local gas source. As standard, natural gas (from the distribution grid), LPG and biogas (from biogas stations) are used in particular.

Wood can also be used as an energy source for the production of electrical energy in cogeneration units.
AIR TECHNIC designs, supplies and installs cogeneration units for the combustion of producer gas from wood chip gasification in gas generators, as part of biopower plants for the gasification of wood chips.

In the case of a combination of simultaneous production of electrical energy, heat and cold, this is trigeneration.
Electricity and heat are produced in cogeneration units, cooling water is produced in absorption units (without compressor).
The energy source for the production of cold in absorption units is thermal energy from cogeneration units.
Trigeneration is suitable for seasonal use - heat and cold consumption.

For the installation of cogeneration units, we use manufacturers - e.g. Jenbacher and ELTECO (GUASCOR).
